Joyful Sunday

Sunday morning started with coffee on the front porch.  It was such a nice morning after some very hot days.  We really need rain.  Prayers for rain would be nice.
Part of our church crowd were missing taking a CHL class across the road.  I had the pleasure of holding grand daughter.   She was so so sleepy.
We have an awesome church family.  As we were discussing Luke and Matthew my almost 14 yo handsome prince was the favorite small child entertainment center.  He loves the littles and they love him back.

She likes to avoid the camera. I loved this quick snap of her laughing.

Usually I get this side of her.

This one isn't much better.  He seems a tad camera shy.
Then there was my very tired grand son.  He found a quiet place to rest.  Yes he is sound asleep!

Doesn't he look comfortable?  Don't you wish you had a bed like his?

After we had church we came home and had early birthday for 14 yo.  DIL and grands were out for it.  I got to play with youngest grand.  He is watching my phone as I try to get a picture.

Other grands discovered what I was doing.  :)

Then the grands all helped 14 yo unwrap gifts.   He had lots of help.

It's hard to see what his gift is.  It is a yellow toy, aka skid steerer, which is what he ask for. I think he had in mind it being a few feet bigger.

After presents, then those that wanted to get wet did.
These two littles know just how big that first step is and were stuck on it the whole time.

New skid steerer only came with a bucket.  He decided to make forks for it then he made a rake later.   He really likes the big one better but had fun with this one.
Kale chips?  I had a few left and she could reach the bowl.  So she was eating them with both hands.  She LIKES them.

Made for a wonderful Sunday!   Now on to blog about our day today!

New Calf

I knew she was close.  I have been checking her every day.

Last night we came home just before dark.  We jumped on the ranger and raced dark to check on her and a goat we were watching.   I was surprised to see this TINY red calf.   I really didn't think it would be this color.   I love the color.   I hope he grows fast, he has a lot of growing to do.

He will be good steak in about 18 months :)

I have two more cows to calve.  One is sorta close the other I am thinking near vacation time.  Timing is every thing!

Other picture news first tomato is ripe!  I have a couple more starting to change color.

More of my grape vine sticks.  I would guess 75% of the sticks are leaving out.  Some are well leafed out. I am not sure what we will do will all of them.  My friend gets all she wants.

More Esential Oil Thoughts

I am still reading and learning on the oils.   Sunday one of my dd got up with serious cramps.  She felt bad all over.  I suggested she try the roll on blend for women that I got with my kit.   She was willing.  That tells you how bad she felt.  Later she admitted it helped, but she still felt tired.  Not cramping.   In a couple of hours she was hurting again.  I read what oils to use for cramps.  I handed her the ones for cramping.  She rubbed a drop of each on her tummy.   In a short time she was laughing and joking and active.  She sought out the oils later and re-oiled then again before we went to bed.  She got up the next morning and did it again.  Later I heard her telling DIL about how well they worked.  She said she didn't cramp at all yesterday.  She kept talking about how different it was.  She usually has several days of cramps each month.

On Friday, same child was mad at me.  I was getting the cold shoulder, with the attitude silent treatment.  Those with teen daughters know the attitude.  I knew if I suggested she use some oils I would not get far.  So I ask the OTHER girls if they had used oils.  They both came in and started oiling.  Then I ask her if she wanted some also.  I handed her the Elevation.  I wanted her mood to elevate! I also gave her peppermint.  In less than 5 minutes the attitude was GONE.  She was chatting with me and sharing about her school work.

Then Sunday afternoon 11 yo told me he was mad and so he came in and oiled so he wouldn't loose it.  I was impressed!   He said one of the other kids made him mad so he came in and got oil to keep from getting mad.   Monday he didn't have as good of a day.  He managed to lose it and even throw his glasses.  :(   But even with that I oiled him down well.  It took him a while, close to an hour to find his happy pants.  He lost playing instead earned setting for choices made, but not mad anymore. Was able to spend the rest of the time sitting and visiting with me about life, choices and just a happy kid that was bummed he lost privileges.

Sunday grandson wasn't feeling well and ended up throwing up after they went home.  I sent over a little peppermint oil.  Mommy rubbed it on his tummy with come coconut oil.   He only threw up once. so maybe it helped.

Dh took some samples into a coworker who has a child on the autism spectrum.  I was very surprised that he was interested in trying them.  Dh was just sharing what a difference it has made in 11 yo.  I can't wait to see how they effect this young man or if they will.

Mr. Fix It

So for today almost 14 yo has fixed an old chain saw.  DH thought the gas tank had a hole.  It seems instead it had a plug out.  He took the tank off and found how to fix it.  Filled it with gas, found a chain that fits and started it.  He said it isn't leaking.

Found another cordless drill in the "shop" and charged that battery, said it works.

He also worked on his bench he built last week.  He had some screws that the point came through a tiny bit.  He took them out sanded them down a tiny bit and then put them back in.  We decided that it needed a brace between the legs.  He so cut 2x4s and installed them. He said it is much solider.

He also has supper tonight.  He makes green chili enchiladas every time he has supper.  I told him no.  He needs to expand his cooking skills.  So instead of making green, he is going to do red.  That means making the red sauce.  I have an awesome recipe for making it that calls for a tiny bit of cocoa powder.   He is a really good cook.  He just doesn't do many different things if he can avoid it.  Since most of us don't grow tired of green chili what ever it works.   I am excited to try his new creation!

This is on top of doing all his school work for today and tomorrow.  This child needs a job!  He has also learned to run the skid steerer.  He is using it to grub, and to rake where he has grubbed.   He also has brought bucket loads of dirt and filled my dirt bin.  Keeping him busy gets challenging at times.

Owls

This morning on my walk I was blessed.   I got to see the adult owl and one of the baby owls setting on the window  of the deer blind.

See the mockingbird above the owl?  It was fun to watch the mockingbird dive at fuss at the owl.  The owl seems not to notice.
Baby owl.  See the down still around it's feet?   I wonder if it will fly today, or if it will go back down into the deer blind for a few more days.
Guess I will have to climb up there and check later.
It has been neat watching them and the adult owls.   Such a cool blessing.

Friday's Musing

This morning on my walk I saw one of the adult owls.   I took a picture or two.  The zoom isn't great but you can still see the owl.
When I got back from walking I went through the garden to cut the water off.  I DH had turned the waters on before 6 when he went to work to help keep it from freezing as the temps were about 35 degrees.   I decided to take some pics on my phone.

These are our thorn less black berry bushes and T's flowers.

See the tomato?  I have several, this is the largest.

Potatoes in tires and apple trees.  The apple trees aren't doing well.  Two of the 5 leafed out well, one is coming along and two are really struggling.

I have discovered that planting pepper plants in the cinder blocks around my raised beds produce more peppers. This year I planted them around the asparagus bed.

I have no idea what type plant this is.  It roots really easy.  It needs low sun.  This one isn't in a good place.  I need to move it into a more shady location, it is getting to much sun.  I would gladly share this with any and all of you that want a leaf or three.  Just ask!

Speaking of sharing, I would LOVE to share some of this wondering Jew. I have two huge tubs/pots of it.
I also wanted to share some flower bed pictures.  This is sage, like you cook with.  It is beautiful!  I never would have guessed it could be this pretty.

Not sure what type flower this is, but it blooms all summer and is really pretty.   Butterflies love it.
